Schwules Museum (Gay Museum)

Established in 1985, this modern initiative strives to tell the tales of GLBTIQ German and international history, culture, and art in an informative and enriching way. Most of the friendly staff there are volunteers. The exhibitions change, and cover a whole range of diverse themes, such as gender classification, prosecution and persecution, androgynous fashion, and famous personalities within the GLBTIQ community.

This is the place to go to learn about homosexuality in Greece, photographer Harvey Milk, Nazi persecution of homosexuals, and drag queens throughout history. There are frequent events that take place on-site, including book presentations, guided tours, lectures, exhibitions, film screenings, and festivals. Some information and tours are presented in English. The museum is open every day except Tuesdays from 2pm until 6pm, Saturdays until 7pm, with an admission price of €6.
