Berlin: Alternative Berlin Walking Tour
1154 ReviewsTake a journey into Berlin's alternative and urban scenes on a walking tour. Experience the city's street art, city markets, café districts, artist quarters, multicultural neighborhoods, and more.
The collection housed in the Berggruen Museum, was sold to the city of Berlin for a price way below its actual value when its previous owner, Heinz Berggruen, returned to his native city after six decades in exile.
Famous artists who have works in the collection include Pablo Picasso, Alberto Giacometti, Georges Braque, Paul Klee and Henri Matisse, so this makes it a great place to see work from all these artists in one visit.
The buildings themselves that house the Berggruen collection have their own history. Completed in 1859, they were designed to match the impressive Charlottenburg Palace, which sits opposite. The grounds and buildings were expanded in 2013 and the museum continues to be a drawcard for art lovers from around the world.
On public transport, the museum can be easily reached by S-Bahn, U-Bahn, and by bus. The site is closed Mondays and is open Tuesday to Sunday between 10 am and 6 pm.
Entrance ticket costs €10, with a reduced rate for children and seniors. An annual pass can be bought for €25. The museum includes a shop, bookstore, and café.
