For both amateur and professional photographers alike, abandoned buildings offer a fantastic opportunity to capture fascinating and unique images. In and around Berlin are various historical buildings, long since abandoned which are begging to be explored. Some urban explorers get a kick out of sneaking into these places and risking guards and the police as well as serious injury due to the unsafe nature of the abandoned places, but for those that are a bit more cautious, go2know offer a legal option.
Not really a tour in the true sense, go2know provide you with the information you need to explore the buildings on your own. They'll tell you about some of the fascinating history of the place, give you get a map with good photo opportunities marked, as well as unsafe areas, and set up a little base station where you can get a drink or have a break or talk photography. The rest is up to you. You'll get 4-5hrs to explore, and photograph to your hearts content and small group sizes mean that the spooky atmosphere isn't disturbed by hoards of people.
Currently they offer tours to 10 different abandoned locations including a 19th century sanitarium, an East German secondary school, an amusement park and a meatworks.
