Open since 2003, Konk has become an institution in Berlin and stocks only Berlin based fashion and jewellery designers. The philosophy is all about creating a culture of sustainability for independent Berlin fashion designers. Local production, fair trade and a sustainable product is more important to owner Edda Mann than just making a certain amount of sales per week, and this is reflected in the stores simple design and outlook, showcasing the designs rather than the sale.
Berlin based fashion designers are a bit more playful, quirky and experimental than their Paris or Milan counterparts and a lot less concerned with following commercial trends. This results in a lot more freedom to create interesting pieces that have a more sustainable and timeless design rather than conforming to international trends.
Berlin based designers such as ANNTIAN, Boessert Schorn, Format, Mikenke, Penelope´s Sphere, Thone Negrón, and Tiedeken are represented in store and their individual fashion and jewellery pieces are just stunning. Whether it is fashion or accessories, Konk is stocked with beautiful, unique items, unlikely to be seen elsewhere. Prices vary from designer to designer and in comparison to the international fashion stage this shop is very reasonably priced, especially when you consider that this are individual boutique fashion pieces that aren't yet available world wide.
If you add yourself to the mailing list Konk will invite you to their next in store event where they showcase one of their designers and their next seasons line. Here you can chat to the designer as well as other likeminded Berlin fashion lovers and the store owner Edda Mann, who speaks perfect English, whilst you sip on a beverage and browse the shop.
