Reviews
We had the 7-course dinner at Merold and it was absolutely fantastic — a true highlight of our time in Berlin. The standout dishes for me were the hake with hake caviar, the creative reinterpretation of shallot, buckwheat, and black garlic, the beautifully executed Spätzle and lentils, the house-made Bratwurst, and the tender rabbit dish. Every plate showed thoughtful technique, excellent ingredients, and real creativity while staying true to modern German roots. As a sommelier, I was especially impressed by the wine pairings. Being in Berlin, I discovered several outstanding German wines here that were completely new to me — the 2022 Heerkretz Sauvignon Blanc from Tomislav Markovic, the Niklas Rückrich Spätburgunder, and the Lingenfelder Satyr Blanc de Noirs were all exceptional. The pairing elevated the entire meal. A big thank you to Jonas and the whole team at Merold for the warm, knowledgeable service and such a memorable culinary experience. We’ll definitely be back!
Staff was lovely. Place had a good vibe. Unfortunately only 1 out of the 5 courses was great, the onion dish was phenomenal and the mushroom kind-of soup was very good. The rest sounded fancy, but tasted very unexciting. Portions were tiny and too long wait in between. The vegetarian main meal of a dehydrated and rehydrated vegetable was just bitter and inedible. I felt the whole explanation of every course was too extensive. And if you talk so much about every dish, then it should be mind-blowing. But unfortunately it wasn’t. And 0,1 glass of wine for 10 euros is extremely exaggerated. Sadly not going back
A truly unique experience! The food was thoughtful and delicious and the staff made you feel well taken care of. We especially appreciated the explanations from the chef. This is definitely a not to be missed spot!
