Wochenmarkt am Boxhagener Platz
Berlin
Located in the trendy neighbourhood of Friedrichshain, lining the grassy square of Boxhagener Platz, you can find this market open every Saturday. There are heaps of stalls surrounding the square selling fresh vegetables, meats, cheeses, bread and fish. Some stalls are organic some are not and the prices vary accordingly. As well as being able to stock up on your regular grocery food shop you can also find the extra stuff like stalls selling cakes, herbs and spices, soaps, flowers, juice, honey and fresh coffee.
The atmosphere is cool and relaxed and make sure you bring a sturdy bag to put all your shopping in, it will make it much easier on your hands. A different vibe to the Sunday Fleamarket, RAW-Flohmarkt, that is held here every week, this crowd is regular, local and out to find some good produce.
A good tip is if you wait till the end of the day, the groceries get cheaper as the sellers want to offload most of their goods, the longer you wait, the cheaper they'll be, just no guarantees what will be left at the end of a busy market Saturday.
