An unforgettable dining experience in Berlin! It was an absolute delight from start to finish. Chef Sebastian Frank’s approach to vegetables is truly mind blowing especially the signature aged celery dish, which is a masterpiece of flavor. The service was impeccable; the staff was knowledgeable, attentive, and made us feel very welcome throughout the evening. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between sophisticated fine dining and a relaxed, comfortable vibe. Highly recommended for anyone looking for unique flavors.
The chef’s technique is undeniably impressive, and the craftsmanship behind each dish is incredible. However, I felt that the reliance on strictly local ingredients limited the depth and distinctiveness of the flavors. The region simply doesn’t offer produce with the kind of intensity or character one might expect at this level, and as a result, some dishes lacked the complexity I was hoping for. It also could be the fact that it’s winter season. The juices though were a surprise to our palette and a top notch pairing experience! Given the restaurant’s two-star status, my expectations naturally aligned with other venues in the same category. Unfortunately, the overall experience didn’t fully meet that standard. The service felt somewhat uncoordinated at times…for example, drink pairings were poured well before the next dishes arrived, leaving multiple glasses on the table throughout the meal. There was also an unexpected interruption when a homeless person entered the dining room asking for money. While I understand this may be difficult to control, it did affect the atmosphere of what should be a seamless fine-dining experience. It would help if the entrance were monitored or kept closed during service, as this is likely not the first time such an incident has occurred. There is clear talent in the kitchen, and the foundation is strong, but there are several areas where the experience could be improved to truly align with the restaurant’s reputation and pricing.
