die deutSCHule
Berlin
Make sure you grab a coffee from the cosy cafe - the barista makes the best coffee of all the language schools in Berlin
die deutSCHule was founded on the basis that education, in particular, language learning, should be accessible to all, and they have priced their courses accordingly. Although they have some of the lowest prices of all the language schools in Berlin, they still place a heavy emphasis on teacher quality and customer service. Students at the school come from all over the world and are motivated and engaged, with many of them studying German before commencing study at one of Germany's universities As an accredited teacher training centre, die deutSCHule prides itself on its staff of professional, motivated and inspirational teachers.
Courses
Intensive Course
The cornerstone of die deutSCHule is their four-week intensive German as a Foreign Language class which includes 20 hours of tuition per week, Monday to Friday. Classes are offered either morning, midday, or afternoons, allowing you to choose a time that works best for you. Class sizes average around 12-13 students per class which for the course price is very fair.
Grammar and Writing Course
Die deutSCHule also offers a Grammar and Writing course for students who have already reached at least B1, but who need some extra help with grammar. This course can be booked as a stand-alone course or in conjunction with an Intensive course.
Conversation Course
Instead of the standard conversation course, die deutSCHule offers a unique course called >Format :D. The course is aimed at people who are at least B2 level and consists of conversation, excursions and presentations. The course runs three evenings a week for 5 weeks.
Diversity
die deutschule are the first school we have come across placing an added emphasis on diversity and inclusion, having appointed a Diversity Officer who is the point of contact for students with diversity questions or issues. They have also made a number of concrete steps to increase awareness of the issue amongst the teaching staff as well as the student body.
Yoga
In addition to their German language courses, the deutSCHule also offers a Yoga class on Wednesday evenings for the very low price of 5€ per session
Exams and Certifications
Die deutSCHule is an official examination centre for Test DaF and telc C1 Hochschule two of the qualifications required for non-Germans looking to study at German universities. They also offer exam preparation courses which are a great way to make sure you are ready for the exam.
Facilities
Each of the classrooms as painted a unique colour, creating a vibrant atmosphere and many of the rooms include smart boards, allowing teachers to access a variety of modern and innovative teaching materials. All classes have natural light and are airconditioned - a godsend in the summer months.
One of our favourite parts of the school is their cafe, and their baristas make coffee which even rivals many of the cafes in Berlin. In addition, you can grab a bite to eat, and sit either in the cafe or on their rooftop terrace. Free wifi is available throughout the building, and students also have access to a student computer. Another touch that we love is that the cafe also has a piano which can be used by students during the day.
Location
Located in Neukölln, die deutSCHule is within easy walking distance to U and S-Bahn connections, making it relatively easy to get to from most areas of Berlin.
Cultural Program
As well as regular events open to all students, within each class, teachers often organise excursions which tie in with whatever topic you may be covering in class, which is a nice way to have a cultural experience while keeping it relevant to your language learning.
Price and Booking
die deutSCHule offers a free trial class, so we suggest you book in for a free class and see for yourself if the school is right for you, If you choose to book multiple months in advance you will get a discount on their already great prices.
