Established as a non-profit organisation 1989 IIK have two schools in Germany, IIK Düsseldorf and IIK berlinerID, and has become one of the country's premier providers of academically oriented German language education. Classes at IIK berlinerID are academically focused and very suitable for motivated students who are learning German with a view to studying or seeking professional employment in Germany. Students come from all over the world, with no dominant nationality represented.
IIK e.V, has strong connections with many German and international educational institutions as well as industry, with a strong focus on the relationship between study and employment.
Classes
The mainstay of IIK berlinerID, is its Intensive “German as a Foreign Language” course. Consisting of 100 lessons per month, which is much higher than the average of 60-80 you will get at other schools, you will have ample opportunity to develop your language skills, with equal emphasis placed on reading, writing, grammar and speaking.
They also offer Test Daf and DSH preparation course and exams, to get you ready to sit the examinations required for acceptance by German Universities.
Exams
IIK Berliner ID is a certified examination centre for Test Daf and is open to both students as well as external participants.
Location
In mid-2017 IIK berlinerID moved from their original campus into their brand new location in Wedding situated in an impressive, brick former factory complex which from 1902 produced light bulbs for the well known German company “Osram”. It is easy to reach with public transport including U-Bahn lines U6 and U9, as well as trams and buses.
Facilities
IIK berlinerID's brand new classrooms are all generously sized, with plenty of natural light and are all equipped with interactive whiteboards. In addition to the classrooms, there is also a study-room where students can work privately or in small groups.
Accommodation
IIK berlinerID offers reasonably priced private accommodation in apartments around Berlin either as single or double rooms with shared kitchen and bathroom.
Cultural Program
To get the most out of your language course and your time in Berlin, IIK berlinerID offers a rich and comprehensive cultural program with multiple options each week including museum visits, theatre workshops, and games nights, as well as bar/pub nights.
University Study Program
IIK berlinerID offers a study program for people looking to study in Germany. In addition to the language classes, you will receive visa support, study advisory and check for admission in Germany, 10 hours of individual training lessons, examination fee and guaranteed exam place, regular meetings with a private student advisor, study application, and health insurance.
Integration Courses and Public Funding
Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for either full or subsidised payment of your course fees by either the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees or the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. Integration course candidate's acceptance into the course is subject to an interview and agreement to the course conditions.
