Long Night of Museums

Long Night of Museums

Experience numerous exhibitions, collections and installations as 75 of Berlin's museums open their doors to the public for Long Night 2024

Friday 23 August to Saturday 24 August at 18:00 until 02:00

For the Long Night of Museums, a large number of Berlin museums and exhibition venues open their doors and give visitors the opportunity to view exhibitions, collections and installations as well as take part in workshops, tours and artist talks from 6pm to 2am. In 2024, 75 museums will take part in the Long Night.

Featuring: 75 Exhibition Venues and 750 Events
With more than 70 museums, from the classic cultural temples on Museum Island to the Trabi Museum and from the private Samurai Art Museum to the Stasi Museum in Normannenstraße, this year's night-time event once again has a lot to offer. Discover world-famous collections, Berlin originals, other cultures, unique places and beloved things. Secrets of research and collecting are revealed behind many an otherwise closed door. Each museum welcomes the Lange Nacht flaneurs in its own unique way, including culinary surprises. The 2024 motto is “Berlin Secrets” and draws attention to the mysterious, hidden and wicked.

The BERLIN SECRETS EDITION
Mysterious, secretive and seductive: This year, the event draws attention to all things hidden and locked, almost lost and delightfully mischievous. Paintings will be flipped around and illuminated, secret writings deciphered and finds from Berlin's underground put on display. Doors are opened to museum rooms that are otherwise closed, to cellars and former hiding places, to air raid shelters and dark crypts and more!

Frequency: Long Night 2024 will take place 24.08.24 to 25.08.24

Time: 6pm (24.08.24) to 2am (25.08.24)

Location: numerous museums around Berlin

More on the Event and Berlin's Unique Diversity of Museums
Visitors can, for example, explore Warhol's self-interrogations as a drag queen in the Neue Nationalgalerie, marvel at the incredible methods of the secret services in the German Spy Museum, be initiated into magical knowledge in the Neues Museum or listen to ghost stories from the Prussian palaces in Charlottenburg. The festival includes many international hotspots such as Neues Museum, Gropius Bau, Deutsches Technikmuseum and Museum für Naturkunde and numerous special museums such as the Samurai Museum Berlin, Bauhaus Archive / Museum für Gestaltung or the Urban Nation Museum.

Around midnight, the 'Late Night Specials' offer additional highlights. Join us for a spooky lecture in the ruins of an auditorium, crime thrillers with the 'Murderous Sisters,' puppet theater, a salsa party or a voguing ball - sometimes sinister, sometimes lyrical and sometimes wild.

Getting Around the Long Night of Museums 2024 in Berlin
Shuttle buses on five routes connect many of the participating museums. You can experience two of them, the North Shuttle and South Shuttle, in vintage buses. All museums are also easy to reach by public transport, and all major lines run throughout the night.
