We had a fantastic evening at Zig Zag! We had no idea what to expect, but were greeted with friendly efficient service from the moment we arrived. We loved the cosy atmosphere, and felt totally at home with like-minded people, all there to enjoy the music. The musicians were very talented, and gave us outstanding entertainment with some of the best jazz we've ever heard - with non-stop music all evening.
A real jazz club, like you imagine they where in the old days. Intimate, super friendly, professional, no frills atmosphere. Everything is top notch here. World class artist. I just discovered my favorite club in Berlin.
ZigZag Jazz Club has a cozy, warm, and social atmosphere. The lighting is relaxed and intimate, making the space feel welcoming from the moment you arrive. The seating is a bit tight, but it fits the club’s character and doesn’t take away from the overall experience. The people really shape the vibe of the place. The staff are genuinely kind and smiling, and there’s a natural sense of warmth among the guests. Hearing people talk and connect around you makes the atmosphere feel sincere and friendly rather than formal or distant. Musically, ZigZag has a broad and open-minded vision. The concert I attended was Milena Casado’s album release performance, and it was not an easy-listening experience. This is clearly a venue where the focus is on actively listening to the music rather than having it as background sound. ZigZag also hosts modern, unconventional performances and gives space to styles beyond classic jazz, which shows its strong artistic direction. As this was my first jazz club experience in Berlin, I would personally like to explore other jazz venues as well before returning. That said, ZigZag stands out as a place for people who truly want to focus on the music and experience concerts with depth and intention.
I've been to the club on three different occasions and it hosts some very good acts. The main issue is that some of the patrons can't help chatting very loudly and so spoil the evening for everyone else. If the proprietors did something about it, the place would be great.
