Description
Begin the tour at the 19th-century Reichstag Building. The Neo-Renaissance gem, which is the seat of the German Bundestag and German’s center of political power, makes an ideal start to the stroll through Berlin, etched in rich history and culture.
Next, walk through the majestic Brandenburg Gate, an 18th-century neoclassical monument, and relive key moments in Berlin’s Cold War history and German reunification. Don't forget to take iconic photos at this most photographed site in the city.
Then, soak up the vibrant atmosphere at Potsdam Square, with bustling shops and towering skyscrapers. It's the perfect spot for people-watching, beloved by both locals and tourists.
Leaving the lively square, walk by the remains of the Berlin Wall on Niederkirchner Street, where the silent remnants tell the story of a divided Germany.
Move on to Checkpoint Charlie, the famous former border crossing, and imagine the tense standoff between American and Soviet tanks during the Cold War. One fun fact is that this location has appeared in thrillers and spy novels like “James Bond in Octopussy” and “The Spy Who Came In From The Cold”.
Following this, pass by Gendarme Market Square, an exhibition of stunning historical architecture, to admire the Berlin Theater, the French and German Cathedrals, and an exquisite statue of Friedrich Schiller, Germany's most important classical playwright.
After that, we stop by the 18th-century Unter den Linden, one of the oldest state opera houses in the world, built under the reign of King Frederick II of Prussia. The site has survived devastating wars and remains a symbol of Berlin's cultural heritage.
The next destination is the 17th-century Crown Prince Palace, where we will appreciate the modern art collection of the National Gallery, also the world's first permanent contemporary art collection!
Just a short walk away is the stunning Berlin Cathedral, with its striking turquoise domes that dominate the city's skyline. Marvel at the ornate carvings, sculptures, and paintings on the intricate façade of the largest Protestant church in Germany, which also offers picturesque views of the Spree River.
Continue to pass by the iconic Berlin TV Tower, which is not only the tallest structure in Germany, but also a symbol of Communist power in the 20th century.
Finally, we will stop by the 15th-century Berlin Palace, a symbol of Berlin’s royal history. From its grand beginnings as the main residence of the Kings of Prussia and German Emperors to its turbulent fate as the Palace of the Republic in East Germany, it makes the perfect end to the tour.
