Description
Berlin is the most water-rich major city in Europe and this tour feels almost like a day at the sea. We cycle to the city's biggest lake & unique New Venice: This artificial lovely lagoon & suburb is crossed by several canals connected to the city's main River Spree. Feel free to swim! Or enjoy a cold beer & snack right on the shore, be it fresh local fish or vegetarian. The ride shows how green and extensive East Berlin is and how quickly it changes its face: Just a moment ago, GDR socialist housings dreariness, suddenly magnificent buildings in the park, followed by almost rural sections. Most of the time we drive through parks, forests, along or on the water: The tour includes a solar ferry boat passage with great insights and views. During various breaks you can also learn a lot about the history of (Greater) Berlin, from the last ice age left many lakes, to nowadays. Finally, we return to the city by metro (S-Bahn/local train, direct service/without changes). Ferry boat & metro tickets, use of bikes, helmets & towels are included in the price! Note This flat ride is not very strenous, mostly it's even supported by tail wind. The oldest participant was an Australian lady aged 76! We don't use E-Bikes but as a professional bike rental service we own many well maintained bikes, from tiny to giant. Total duration is about 5-6 h, bike distance approx. 33 km/ 20 miles with many refreshing breaks. Still too much? Not enough time? Feel free to join “The East West Tour” then, our much shorter guided city ride! ;-) Meeting point is near to Public Park Friedrichshain & Velodrom. It's located a bit east of Alexanderplatz/ TV Tower, at the district borders of Prenzlauer Berg, Friedrichshain and Mitte. Well connected by Metro (S-Bahn) S8, S85, S41/42, Tramway M5, M6, M8 & M10 and Bus line 200. Detailed directions and live location of the meeting point can be sent after booking!
