The Jewish Museum Berlin is the largest Jewish museum in Europe, known for its symbolic zig-zag-shaped building with slanting walls, sharp angles, and voids that reflect Jewish history in Germany.
Current exhibitions include:
- Inventories — The Legacy of Salman Schocken: Featuring US author Joshua Cohen’s exploration of Salman Schocken’s cultural legacy through books and objects, offering a modern perspective on culture, capital, museums, and belonging. Admission to this exhibition is free. (July 11 to November 23, 2025)
- Defiance — Jewish Women and Design in the Modern Era: Showcases the role of over sixty Jewish women designers in early 20th-century Germany, highlighting their artistic and entrepreneurial achievements before the Nazi regime ended their careers. The exhibition spans various design and craft techniques, including goldsmithing, textiles, ceramics, wood carving, fashion design, and graphics.
Alongside artworks and everyday objects, the museum features video and audio installations and interactive stations that provide detailed insights. To enhance your visit, bringing your own headphones is recommended.
The museum is situated in Berlin-Kreuzberg, within walking distance of Checkpoint Charlie. Your museum ticket also grants reduced admission to the nearby Berlinische Galerie for three days, located just a five-minute walk away.
