Description
We will meet at 3:00 pm at the iconic Brandenburg Gate to begin this guided visit to the more alternative side of Berlin.
We will stroll along the iconic Oranienburger Straße, a street that was home to the Jewish population in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Next, we will stop at the fascinating art nouveau courtyard complex of Hackesche Höfe, an architectural gem full of charm.
We will continue exploring the Kotti district, one of the most alternative and multicultural areas of the city. Here we will find punk bars, clubs with a unique atmosphere and some of the best halal restaurants. Did you know that Turkish hip hop was born in this neighborhood? We will discover the fascinating history behind its streets.
We will also visit the colorful Kreuzberg district, where we can admire the Astronaut Cosmonaut graffiti by Victor Ash, a work of urban art with a surprising relationship to war. We will continue our tour through the lively Oranienstraße, a favorite place among young people, and walk through the charming Bethaniendamm before arriving at Baumhaus, a sustainable space in the heart of the capital.
Not to be missed on our itinerary is the Kopi district, where punk culture, anarchism and Marxism converge. We will also head to the Yaam market to explore African food stalls and, if we are lucky, we may even witness a live reggae concert.
