Every year on May Day the street festival Myfest takes place in Berlin-Kreuzberg. This year the 16th Myfest is celebrated on Labor Day. Get ready for a massive outdoor celebration full of music, dance, drinks and celebration.
The festival is supposed to counteract the riots on May 1 by replacing violence with peaceful celebrations in the neighbourhoods around Kottbusser Tor, Heinrichplatz and Oranienstraße. The increasingly peaceful course of the Kreuzberg May Day celebrations since 2003 is attributed by the police, politicians and residents primarily to Myfest.
