Description
Who owns the city? Who bought it and who paints it? The local guide will take you on a 2.5 hour long tour from the district Friedrichshain to Kreuzberg. We start at the RAW-Gelände, the biggest industrial fallow area in Berlin, a hub for street art und graffiti, which will be gentrified sooner or later - so you better check it out now! After that we will cross the Oberbaum Bridge, a former border crossing during the cold war. Right next to it is the East Side Gallery, the worlds biggest open air gallery and a 1.3 km long piece of the Berlin Wall. We will talk about why the wall was built in the first place and about the individual circumstances and coincidences that led to its downfall. Shortly after, we will discover urban art in the district of Kreuzberg, where diverse cultures, art forms, and subcultural movements converged. Particularly during the Cold War era when it served as a central hub for West Berlin's alternative scene. The tour ends at Kottbusser Tor.Includes
