1987年に開催されたベルリン園芸展から生まれ、ドイツの統一後、この公園はテーマの庭園として再開発され、広大な芝生、子供向けの遊び場、新しい木々や植物が整備されました。2002年にドイツで最も美しい10の庭園の1つとして選ばれました。
4年の建設期間を経て、2000年に「世界の庭園」がオープンしました。中国庭園「回収月の庭」として知られており、その後の10年間で、日本、バリ、オリエント、韓国、イタリア、クリスチャン世界の庭園が追加されました。
この90ヘクタールのエリアには、アート、カフェ、スポーツ施設、コンサート会場、動物園、鉄道博物館も含まれています。
