Description
After hotel pickup, you will travel by car to Potsdam and park near the old windmill, offering an initial view of Sanssouci Park. The tour begins at Sanssouci Palace, the vineyard residence of King Frederic II, built between 1745 and 1747. The palace has eight rooms, including the king's library, bedroom, music room, and audience room. The other rooms were for his male guests, notably Voltaire. The oval hall features Caracas marble columns and original interiors preserved from the 18th century.
From April 1 to September 30 you can also visit the 19th-century original kitchen and the picture gallery, which houses Frederic II's collection including Caravaggio's 'Incredulous Thomas'. The tour continues with a walk along the garden terrace to see Frederic's grave and the graves of his dogs. The route proceeds down the vineyard to a large fountain and through a landscaped garden featuring meadows, small bridges, the Chinese House (open to visitors), and various sculptures and temples.
The walk usually ends at the 19th-century Orangerie Palace, built in Italian style by King Frederic William IV. Although partially under refurbishment, the Orangerie offers panoramic views of Sanssouci Park and the New Palace. After a short walk back to the car, the tour continues by driving through the garden past the Orangerie Palace and on to the New Palace. Built by Frederic II after the seven-years-war, the New Palace has 400 to 600 rooms and served as a guest residence.
The tour concludes with a drive back to Berlin, passing the Cecilienhof Palace (site of the 1945 Potsdam Conference), the Glienicker Bridge with views of Babelsberg and Glienicke palaces, and the historic Federal Street No. 1, arriving at your accommodation.

Important Information
- The walk from the small Sanssouci Palace to the New Palace via the park is about 2 km (1.25 miles) one way; a circular route of approximately 4 km (2.5 miles) is recommended to see key highlights and takes about 1.5 hours walking.
- Paths are mostly even and wheelchair accessible, but the palace and Orangerie are on small hills with steps leading to the park, especially towards the Orangerie Palace.
- For those with mobility or respiratory issues, a park carriage tour is available along the park perimeter (not inside) or a shorter pickup option near the New Palace can be arranged on the day.
