Description

We will explore the eventful history of this fascinating city together at a leisurely pace by bike. The bike is the ideal way to get from one place to the next quickly and still have enough time to take everything in at your own pace. The itinerary is varied, with historical highlights, moving stories, and surprising perspectives. Here we dive right into the Cold War era. Just a few minutes further on, we reach the Topography of Terror. This impressive site gives us a glimpse into the dark history of National Socialism. Immediately afterwards, we head for a place that is almost invisible today, but was once the control center of the Nazi regime: the former Führer's bunker. A little later, we will stand at the Holocaust Memorial, one of the most moving places in Berlin. Your guide will give you a clear insight into the history and significance of this memorial. From here, we will continue to the beautiful Berlin Tiergarten, the green heart of the city. One of the largest city parks – after which we take a 30-minute break, during which you can refresh yourself with a drink or snack. Refreshed, we cycle to the Victory Column, one of Berlin's most famous landmarks. The golden Else looks proudly over the city. Our route takes us past Bellevue Palace, the official residence of the Federal President, which is located directly on the Spree. We cycle along the Spree riverbank to the government district, past the modern Chancellery with its striking architecture to the historic Reichstag building. Here, the past and present merge in a very special way – your guide will take you on a journey through German democratic history, from the German Empire to the modern Federal Republic. The Brandenburg Gate follows immediately afterwards, a symbol of German unity and perhaps the most famous photo spot in the city. Here we take our time to soak up the special atmosphere; any visit to Berlin would simply be incomplete without this place. We continue to Museum Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the middle of the Spree River. Five of Germany's most important museums are located here. Even though we won't be going inside, you'll gain exciting insights into the architectural history and significance of this unique ensemble. Finally, we roll on to the stylish Gendarmenmarkt, considered one of the most beautiful squares in Europe with the German and French Cathedrals and the Concert Hall.
