Arrived with high expectations and didn't let the cold, lacking imagination decor dissapoint me. Went for the full 7 dishes menu (79e+29e for black caviar) without wine pairing, just ordered some glasses from the small glass wine menu. The food was OK, good at best. Mostly lacking imagination and thus paring the outdated interior. Supririsngly we didn't received absolutely nothing in top of what was in the menu. Usually restaurants of such level have a small welcome dish or accompaning bread. They serve bread, but just as part of one of the 7 dishes.. So food definitely didn't much expectations. I usually don't mind unexperienced service, but in this case it was strakingly lacking, especially given the price tag. The location is subprime, to say the least, hide in Hinterhof of ugly buildings, in a semi-industrial area. But the price is totally prime - our bill was 270e for two. Overal with this amount one can still find much better food in Berlin and in a better location.
The food was absolutely fantastic. It’s good value for money 64€ for a 5 course and 44€ for the wine pairing, are really reasonable with this outstanding quality of food. It felt like a very German, straightforward fine dining experience. No bells and whistles, just outstanding ingredients, prepared to the point, with a little twist. Accompanying wine selection was on point as well. Our menu was a take on German and Austrian classics. The atmosphere felt similarly simplistic German. We went for my wife’s birthday dinner and perhaps were hoping for a more cosy/ romantic experience. I could imagine the outside seating giving a different ambience, but inside downstairs for us wasn’t it. Of course this is something subjective and others will feel differently. All in all we had a good time and liked the interpretations, but the atmosphere wasn’t for us. I would also recommend taking the 7 course 95€ menu, as I could have easily eaten more.
Very nice menu we took the five course and everything tasted better than the last dish. I told her to recommend this place although it’s in a little bit of a sketchy neighborhood.
Their veggie 7-course menu was incredible. Just high quality ingredients masterfully put together. And the price is more than fair.
Overall really good, but seems a bit left behind, bit old fashioned. And for the level of food you get, the service is, although nice, quite inexperienced. The servers didn't seem to be that skilled, although totally attentive Anyway the food is great, but like I said, feels a bit stuck in the past. Somehow, every dish seemed to come with a sauce poured over it. Cool first, but kinda got old. Gorgeous building, but also the interior is very 2015 (old wood, big iron legs, vintage DDR stuff all around). I think it could be updated and modernized easily, the building is super nice, but yeah feels a bit dated.
