Description

Meet your photographer in Kreuzberg near Görlitzer Park and set off on a small-group walking workshop through some of Berlin’s most characteristic neighbourhoods. Walk through streets and courtyards towards the Landwehrkanal and the famous Kottbusser Tor. Depending on the day and the light, you may also explore parts of Neukölln (Maybachufer, Weserstraße), Friedrichshain (Warschauer Brücke, RAW-Gelände), or finish at Tempelhofer Feld for wide, open views. Along the way, you’ll look for everyday scenes: people on the U-Bahn, markets, cafés, street corners, river banks, old shop fronts and strong evening light. You’ll learn how to read light and shadow, compose quickly on the street, approach people respectfully, choose the right moment, and build a short visual story about a place or person. You’ll also discuss ethics in documentary work: how not to “steal” images and how to photograph tourists and locals in a responsible way. You can join with any camera (digital, mirrorless, DSLR or analog film) and any lens; a simple 35mm or 50mm is ideal. At the end of the workshop, you’ll sit down in a café, review a small selection of your images on your camera or laptop, and receive personal feedback plus simple exercises to continue at home. You’ll leave not only with a few strong photos of Berlin, but with a clear method you can use in any city you visit in the future.
