Just the best!! Great selection of beer and what seems to be a rotating menu (check before you go if you’re looking for something in particular). We came twice and their roasted chicken is amazing with sauerkraut and cabbage salad! Their spaetzle was awful. The atmosphere is so fun and we cannot wait to go back! They also have ordering and paying down to a science. There are no long lines and waiting for more than a few minutes which is impressive given the size and amount of people there at any given time.
As Berlin locals, we’re almost embarrassed to admit that we only recently discovered Prater Biergarten. Despite living in the city for years, this place somehow remained hidden from us, and it ended up being a pleasant surprise. The first thing that stood out was how much larger the beer garden is than it appears from the outside. Once you enter, the space opens up considerably, with plenty of seating beneath mature trees that create a relaxed and authentic biergarten atmosphere. Several people told us that the site was renovated recently, and if that’s true, the renovation was done very well. The entire area feels well maintained while still preserving its historic character. One of the highlights is the beautiful old pool house and the Art Deco-inspired architecture, which give the venue a unique charm that sets it apart from many other beer gardens in Berlin. The combination of history, architecture, and greenery creates a special vibe that’s difficult to find elsewhere. Whether you’re meeting friends, enjoying a sunny afternoon, or simply having a beer after work, the atmosphere is definitely the main reason to visit. The beer selection was enjoyable and perfectly suited to the setting. Sitting under the trees with a cold beer in hand is exactly the kind of Berlin experience many visitors are looking for. Unfortunately, the food was the weak point of our visit. The menu felt surprisingly limited for a beer garden of this size. We expected to find classic biergarten snacks such as fries or other simple dishes that pair well with beer, but the options were quite restricted. We ordered a Flammkuchen, which turned out to be rather small for the price and didn’t particularly impress us in terms of taste. Considering the otherwise high quality of the venue, the food offering felt underwhelming and overpriced. Overall, Prater Biergarten is absolutely worth visiting for its atmosphere, historic setting, architecture, and beer. It’s a beautiful place to spend a few hours and enjoy one of Berlin’s oldest and most iconic beer gardens. Just don’t come with high expectations for the food. For us, this is a place to enjoy the ambiance and drinks rather than to have a memorable meal.
What is happening? We had a family lunch there three weeks ago and everything was ok. Yesterday they served us ridiculously small portions for the regular price on dessert plates! The beer garden was almost empty and it was early lunchtime.
The best wheat beer I’ve ever had. I now have another reason to visit Berlin again. I had always wanted to visit Prater Beer Garden, known as the one of the oldest beer garden in Germany. Since it was too cold for the outdoor garden to be open, I tried the beer inside the restaurant instead, and it was excellent. The beer was incredibly smooth and enjoyable. A must-visit place for all beer lovers.
