Walk through a collection of postwar avant-garde paintings, photographs, sculptures, drawings, lithographs, films, and musical recordings. Peruse documents, letters, exhibition catalogues, invitations, and avant-garde magazines. Discover artwork from the 'Lettrism' movement and its later spin-offs. Marvel at work by artists like Gil Joseph Wolman, Isidore Isou, Guy Debord, and Asger Jorn. See the very early St. Germain des Pres artists from 1946 followed by those of the Cobra (1948-52) and Situationist (1957) movements. Isidore Isou, Asger Jorn, and Guy Debord are the central names, followed by the Italian group Bauhaus Immaginista (1954-56), the German Blasphemists of SPUR, and others up to the admired creator of the 'Ur-Mensch', A.R. Penck, forced to leave the DDR. This is the only place in the world where these interrelated movements are shown together.
