Baum&Zeit The treetop path and time travel trail in Beelitz-Heilstätten A place very close and yet not of this world Walking at lofty heights on the 700 metre long barrier-free treetop and time travel trail - discovering nature at lofty heights - immersing yourself in the historic atmosphere of the castle-like old buildings of the old sanatorium - all this awaits visitors at Baum & Zeit. More than 100 years ago, the workers of nearby Berlin were once supposed to recover from the then rampant tuberculosis, surrounded by high-quality architecture and in the middle of spacious forest parks. The functionality and beauty of the grounds still impress visitors today. Despite all the garden design, three quarters of the old forest has been preserved. Mostly deciduous trees and flowering shrubs, but also exotic conifers, were replanted, so that an attractive forest park landscape soon developed. Today, there are around 65 different species of trees and shrubs in the area, creating a magical play of colours, especially in spring and autumn. The barrier-free treetop path opens up spectacular views and new perspectives over this fascinating forest park and the time-honoured buildings of the women's sanatorium. It crosses the war ruins of the Alpenhaus, on whose roof a unique canopy forest has grown since 1945, and offers a wide view of the region from the 40 metre high observation tower - in good weather even as far as the Berlin television tower and exciting adventure elements. If you don't just want to explore the treetops, you can take part in one of the many exciting guided tours of the buildings or the forest park. Here, the stories behind the history are brought to life and many interesting facts about the history of the entire area are conveyed. All this makes the treetop and time travel trail a very special experience for young and old all year round.
