The Christmas Markets at the Roten Rathaus sometimes get confused with the Christmas markets at Alexanderplatz. An easy mistake to make as they are a stone's throw away from each other, separated by the Fernsehturm in the middle.
But these markets have a different feel about them, more traditional, historic, and a bit more magical, This is a definite one to visit. There are pony rides and carnival rides for the children,( including a HUGE Ferris wheel) and large enclosed huts to get warm in whilst you eat and drink.
PLUS the famous Neptune fountain ice rink. (Eisbahn am Neptunbrunnen)
The rink is open all hours the market is open but is closed regularly in the day in half-hour intervals to tend to the ice.
The market is open
Mo–Fr 12-10pm,
Sa–So 11-10pm,
25th, 26th and 29 Dec. 11-9pm
