Vivid Grand Show

A Celebration of Life

Thursday 20 June
Friedrichstr. 107 Berlin-Mitte Berlin Mitte
Friedrichstadt-Palast

In the VIVID Grand Show, android R’eye breaks out of her externally-controlled life and sets out in search of her true identity. With the bright-eyed wonder of a child, she beholds the world with new eyes and perceives the overwhelming beauty of things that we often overlook.

IVID is a declaration of love to life. Featuring more than 100 stunning artists on the world’s biggest theater stage. A production budget of 12 million euros for spectacular costumes and stage sets of unparalleled dimensions. A kaleidoscope of physical perfection and outstanding artistic performances that may prompt tears of joy. Welcome to Berlin’s #1 theater for dazzling entertainment. Welcome to your Palast.

Revue shows are not musicals. Coherence is primarily achieved through visual imagery rather than narrative storytelling. Meaning they are also perfect for guests with no knowledge of German.

With the author and director Krista Monson, a woman will write and direct a Grand Show at the Palast for the first time in its almost 100-year history. As Artistic Director, she was instrumental in the long-running success of the Cirque du Soleil’s Las Vegas show ‘O’. She has also been involved in the Canadian theatrical producer’s shows in Milan, Los Angeles, Macau, New York, Orlando and Tokyo. Krista Monson has worked with stars of the likes of Céline Dion, Daniel Craig and Danny Elfman, and is the recipient of a total of three Elizabeth Sterling Haynes Awards for her outstanding choreographies. At her side as co-author and co-director is Oliver Hoppmann, who is one of the youngest showmakers on the European theatre circuit. He has been the Creative Director at the Palast since 2015. Philip Treacy has worked for Armani, Alexander McQueen, Karl Lagerfeld, Ralph Lauren and Valentino. He has designed hats for ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Sex and the City’, been named British Accessory Designer of the Year five times, and been conferred the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II.
