Mozart's timeless masterpieces are heard at the New Year's Concert in the French Cathedral in Berlin.
The brilliant opening of the concert evening is given by the Overture The Marriage of Figaro KV 492.
It inspires with its usual lively-bubbling, never-ending vitality with sharp dynamic contrasts and an enormous crescendo towards the end.
The happy mood of the evening is followed by the 21st Piano Concerto in C major. The different motifs within the piano concerto are in harmony with each other: an extraordinary atmosphere is created through the equal voices of the piano and orchestra.
Also the jubilation song 'Exsultate, jubilate' - 'Rejoice, rejoice, you happy souls' accompanies you into the new year. The finale of this evening is set by Symphony No. 40 in G minor KV 550, the undisputed favorite among the works of classical music. As timeless, incontestable, unfathomable Mozart's music is felt. This is especially true for this symphony.
