Hamburger Bahnhof
Berlin
This building opened as the terminus of the railway line between Hamburg and Berlin in December 1846.
FIlled with history, the Hamburger Bhanhof building ceased operations as a train station in the 1880s, before being utalized for many other purposes including an exhibition hall in the 1904 and then extensively refurbished and reopening as a modern art gallery in 1996. Today it sees several well-known works on permanent display, including pieces by Joseph Beuys, Anselm Kiefer, Robert Rauschenberg, and Andy Warhol.
As one would hope - being an old train station and all - the museum is well connected to the public transport networks, and is very easy to get to with S-Bahn, U-Bahn, tram and bus stops all nearby. The collection is closed on Mondays, and opens Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 6pm, and from 11am to 6pm on weekends. Tickets are available from €10, with a small discount if you purchase online in advance of your visit.
