Classical concerts with a difference: The Classic Open Air in the heart of Berlin ensures unforgettable music evenings with a unique and atmospheric backdrop - and not only for fans of the classical music.
Since 1992, the festival presents itself always the most beautiful summer time on the Berlin Gendarmenmarkt. His program includes both so-called 'star concerts', with performances of well-known music greats, as well as 'concept concerts', where the focus will be on the works of great composers such as Wagner or Verdi, and on 'crossover concerts', during which artists from the pop, rock or even jazz scene turn to the genre of classical music. The result is a music spectacle for all ages.
Since the opening of the Classic Open Air with a concert by José Carreras in the early 90's, his stage has served as a playground for internationally acclaimed acts such as Buena Vista Social Club, Montserrat Caballé, Chris de Burgh, the Scorpions, Udo Jürgens or Xavier Naidoo and the sons of Mannheim. And visually, the festival series again and again sets new standards when, in line with the music, laser, light and fireworks around the historic buildings of the Gendarmenmarkt ensure unparalleled images. A highlight for eyes and ears.
